Timber Sash Window Replacement, Leeds

Anna was already a valued Woodcraft Windows customer, having previously entrusted us with the replacement of her front door and rear French doors. Having been pleased with the results, she returned to us to discuss replacing the windows throughout her home.

The existing windows were uPVC units. While some of the glazed panes had failed, the windows themselves were still serviceable and could have been repaired to provide a few more years of life. However, Anna’s main concern was not their condition but their appearance. The uPVC windows simply did not suit the character of the property.

Originally, the house featured traditional timber sash windows, and Anna was keen to restore the building’s authentic appearance. During our initial consultation, we walked around the property together and discovered that many of the original sash boxes had been left in place when the uPVC casement windows were installed years earlier. This gave us valuable insight into the property’s history and helped guide the design process.

We explored several options before settling on a classic sash window design that would remain faithful to the property’s heritage while maximising natural light throughout the home. The new windows were carefully designed to provide elegant, slim sight-lines and traditional detailing, without compromising on modern performance.

The transformation was remarkable. Anna and her husband were delighted with the finished result. The property immediately regained much of its original charm and character, while the slim, elegant frames replaced the bulky appearance of the old uPVC windows.

Beyond aesthetics, the new windows offer significant improvements in comfort and performance. They incorporate modern double glazing, advanced low-maintenance finishes, high-performance draught seals, and secure lockable fasteners. The project demonstrates that homeowners do not have to choose between traditional appearance and modern technology—they can enjoy the best of both worlds.

Another successful project completed for a returning customer. Thank you, Anna, for once again placing your trust in Woodcraft Windows.
