Commercial aluminium doors for local East Oxford coffee roastery The Missing Bean
“When we had the job in mind we got in touch with a few local companies that were recommended to us. The main reason we decided to go with Woodcraft was the communication and service we received. It wasn’t a huge project, but we were still treated with ultimate respect. Someone came down to do a site survey a day after my initial contact and we received a speedy quote with a few different options. No one pushed us to go for the expensive option but we were presented with them in detail and left to make our own decision.”
Ori – The Missing Bean, Oxford
Ori runs The Missing Bean – a coffee roastery and cafe on Oxford’s chic, up-and-coming Magdelen Road in East Oxford.
Newtec Place was originally a light industrial development, and The Missing Bean had already opened up the front of their space to create an outdoor cafe area for East Oxford’s coffee-lovers, but the side entrance still had the old industrial roller-shutter and a drab fire door. Ori called us in to replace the side doors and bring that part of the roastery up to scratch.
Ori said, “We really wanted to open up our roastery cafe space in order to bring some more light into the building and also so that people can see what is happening from the outside.”
We got down to The Missing Bean for a visit straight away and – after a very tasty, freshly-roasted Brazilian Cachoeira – took photos and measurements and discussed a few options with Ori. Once he’d cosen a design, we set to work to build the new 3-pane aluminium bi-fold door with extra top-lights and the new glass panelled aluminium front door.
The Missing Bean is a working cafe, so we had to work quickly on the installation to avoid any disruption, but in just one day we managed to remove the roller shutter and fire door and fit the new units, opening up the view to the café and letting in much more light.
