Timber Conservatory with Aluminium Roof, Abingdon

“A delightful company whose aim is customer satisfaction. An initial meeting with Ged starts the process where he actually listens to your requirements, and with no pressure makes suggestions as to how they can be improved. They are upfront about timescales and the fitters work really hard. They are friendly, respectful, reliable and as an older person I felt completely safe and at ease with them. My conservatory is so much better than I imagined and I am absolutely delighted with it.”
– Angela, Abingdon
Angela contacted us in April 2025 regarding a replacement conservatory. Her existing conservatory had originally been a self built DIY project completed by her father many decades ago. Over the years, it had begun to show its age deteriorating in places, becoming less practical, and no longer meeting Angela’s needs.
She wanted something more robust and substantial a warm and comfortable space where she could enjoy a cup of tea with friends and family, or simply sit quietly and watch her garden bloom throughout the seasons.
During our first meeting, we discussed the design in detail and explored what would work best for Angela. To keep the project within budget, we decided to retain the existing footprint, which already provided ample space for her requirements, making an extension unnecessary.
We explored several options, from aluminium conservatories to fully timber constructions, but Angela’s heart was always set on wood. She wanted to preserve the traditional character and enjoy the warmth and cosiness that timber frames and panelling naturally provide. For ease of maintenance, however, we recommended an aluminium roof system, eliminating the need for future repainting and reducing long-term upkeep concerns.
Angela wished to maintain a similar overall appearance to the original conservatory while significantly improving thermal efficiency and overall performance. Instead of sliding doors, we opted for a more classic approach by installing elegant French doors. We also incorporated privacy glazing on the side facing the neighbours, allowing natural light to flow through the space while maintaining privacy, rather than using a solid wall.
The installation took place in October, and the weather conditions were far from ideal for this type of work. Angela felt sorry for the installation team working through the cold and rain, but she made sure they were well looked after with plenty of tea and biscuits throughout the project.
Angela was absolutely delighted with the finished result — it exceeded anything she had imagined. The conservatory completely transformed the feel of her home and inspired her to begin refurbishing the rest of the property, something she admitted had been long overdue. As a company, the most rewarding feedback we can receive is hearing how a project has positively changed someone’s daily life and brought genuine happiness into their home.
Angela also highlighted how, as an elderly woman, she does not always feel entirely comfortable having tradespeople working in her house. However, this experience was completely different. She was extremely complimentary about the fitters, felt safe and comfortable throughout the installation, and said she would happily welcome us back anytime. In fact, she even invited us to stop by for a cup of tea whenever we are in the area.
