Stained Glass Front Door, Rawcliffe, York

Karen of Rawcliffe, York, was planning to replace her drab and poorly aged UPVC front door and arched door frame with solid wood for a better, more traditional look and an added boost to their property.

She got in touch with us and upon initial visit discussed her ideas for design and various options for stained glass. We were able to give her a quote and started the process for creating a new door with our detailed measurements and care.

During the manufacturing process of the door and frame we were happily able to accommodate Karen’s last minute change of heart regarding the stained glass design when she sent us a new sample.

In just one day we were able to remove the old UPVC door and frame and replace it with a new engineered pine frame and sapele hardwood door. Traditional brass fittings (knocker, doorknob and letterbox) accompany the elegant leaded stained glass feature panels on the door, for a classic suburban aesthetic. The door is framed by a toplight, sidelights and side panels, allowing in plenty of natural light through the frosted glass.

Karen was beyond delighted with the results as well as the process. Her distinctive, made-to-measure door and arched frame has not only transformed the house inside and out, but stands out in the neighbourhood too – she says that it is now the best looking door in the area!
