Stormproof Timber Casement Windows, Hampstead
Richard needed replacement windows for his top-floor apartment, as his old, ill-fitting windows allowed wind to whistle through the gaps. His key requirement was to match the existing lipped window profile, also known as a stormproof casement window, to comply with Hampstead Council’s strict regulations for such work.
We faced several challenges, including the large window sizes and restricted access through the building. Constructing a four-story scaffold would have been a significant expense for Richard and might have discouraged him from proceeding with the project altogether. Instead, through careful planning and expert management, we manufactured the windows in sections, allowing for seamless installation without the need for scaffolding.
Richard was highly satisfied with his new windows and immediately noticed two key benefits: Improved insulation and reduced noise reduction – a quieter, more peaceful home. Some of Richard’s windows face south, we included a solar control glass to ensure the rooms stay comfortable and don’t overheat on bright, sunny days.
He commented: “We don’t have to turn the heating up so much, and the sound insulation is really good because we don’t get disturbed by noise in London so much.”
