Timber Door and Sash Windows Arbury Cambridge
Nat lives in a lovely Edwardian terraced house in the Arbury area of Cambridge, but the original wooden front door and single glazed timber sliding sash windows had become weathered and draughty and were badly in need of replacement – especially the classic bay windows at the front.
She wanted to bring the house up to date with the warmth and security of modern double glazing, but keep the historic appearance of her home sympathetic to the aesthetics of the property, which dates back to the 1910’s.
Our Cambridge-based project manager, Mark, visited Nat to discuss how we could help her to bring 21st Century comfort to her early 20th Century home. She chose a four-panel wooden front door and frame with frosted glass, a set of seven engineered timber double glazed sash windows and two small casement windows – all with brass fittings. Mark took detailed measurements and prepared the quote. Our technical expert, Vadim, helped to finalise the materials and specifications and we got to work on constructing the frames, windows and door in our workshop.
We kept Nat updated throughout the construction phase and agreed the installation date, making sure that we kept to schedule and minimised any disruption installation. We had allowed five days to install everything, but Andrius and his team worked so efficiently that they were able to complete the work in only four.
Nat is delighted with her new windows and door, and loves the way they are in keeping with the character of the building whilst making the house warmer and more comfortable to live in.
