New Wooden Front Door with Fanlight, Bubwith, Yorkshire

Sara was undergoing a renovation project at her beloved home, but one thing had been bothering her for years: the lack of a proper, presentable front door. She had inherited a false door at the front of the house, which caused constant inconvenience and never felt quite right.

Finally, Sara decided it was time for a change. She reached out to Woodcraft Windows to commission a bespoke, made-to-measure arched front door that would do justice to her home. She had a clear vision of what her dream door should look like—most importantly, it had to retain the original arched shape at the top.

The project was straightforward for us. We listened carefully to Sara’s requirements and crafted a beautiful, solid wood door tailored to her space. As the doorway was unusually wide, we designed a larger-than-standard frame to ensure it could support the weight of a heavy-duty solid timber door, as well as incorporating a fanlight similar to the original design.

The exterior of the door was spray-painted to match Farrow & Ball’s Vert De Terre, while the interior was finished in white to keep the hallway bright and welcoming. Black hardware provided the perfect contrast, adding a touch of timeless elegance.

For glazing, Sara chose sandblasted glass with a clear border—striking the right balance between privacy and natural light.

Installation was completed in a single day, and the old unit was responsibly removed. Sara is absolutely delighted with her new door. She told us that we exceeded her expectations—not just in the quality of the final product, but also in the smoothness of the entire process.

Now, Sara can finally enjoy the entrance her beautiful home deserves.
