This project involved replacing multiple single‑glazed timber windows at a property exposed to harsh winter weather due to its elevated position in Bledlow Ridge, High Wycombe. The existing windows were rotting and causing significant draughts, making a full upgrade essential.

The cottage sits high in the Chiltern Hills, facing strong winter winds and exposure, meaning the windows had to be manufactured to withstand harsh winter conditions and making thermal performance a key priority. Several windows were part of bow bay structures, requiring precise measurements, corner posts, and careful installation.

Our client, Trevor, had never replaced windows before, so clear communication and reassurance were essential throughout the process. Philip guided him step‑by‑step from design to installation, ensuring confidence and clarity at every stage.

Woodcraft Windows supplied and installed bespoke flush‑casement windows across several rooms, including two bow bay windows and two bedroom windows. Each unit was manufactured in European engineered redwood with hardwood sills, finished in a dual‑colour scheme: white RAL 9010 internally and RAL 7016 externally.

All windows were fitted with 24mm Low‑E double‑glazed units filled with argon gas, traditional monkey‑tail hardware in black, trickle vents where required, decorative timber glazing bars, and prolonged sills to suit the cottage’s architecture.

The combination of traditional monkey‑tail hardware, decorative glazing bars, and dual‑colour paint allowed the new windows to preserve the home’s character while significantly improving comfort and efficiency.

Trevor had this to say about his experience with Woodcraft Windows:

“We live in Bledlow Ridge, a village perched high up in the Chiltern Hills, which means our home faces some pretty harsh winter weather. Our old single-glazed windows were starting to rot and let in a lot of drafts, so it was definitely time for an upgrade.

To be honest, I was quite nervous at first because I had never had windows replaced before. However, from our very first conversation, Philip went above and beyond to put me at ease. He patiently walked us through the entire process, from the initial design all the way to the final installation.

The survey went smoothly, and the installation team was magnificent. They were professional, incredibly knowledgeable, and left the workspace spotless.”

“We had two bow bay windows and two bedroom window replaced in a dual colour, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. We highly recommend Woodcraft Windows to anyone looking for top-quality products and service!”
