Replacement Wooden Stable Door, Tring, Hertfordshire

Replacement Wooden Stable Door, Tring, Hertfordshire. Woodcraft Windows

This project involved the replacement of an existing draughty and insecure stable door at a property in Wilstone, near Tring in Hertfordshire. Our client, Mark, required a high‑quality, secure, and thermally efficient door that would complement the home’s character while resolving issues with cold air ingress and poor security.

Mark had concerns about security and quality, so clear communication and demonstration of materials and hardware were essential in building confidence. The stable door design required precise manufacturing to ensure correct alignment, smooth operation, and a perfect fit within the existing opening.

Stable doors require a balance of traditional aesthetics and modern performance. This project combined heritage‑style detailing with high‑security hardware and a premium brush‑painted finish.

Woodcraft Windows supplied and installed a bespoke outward‑opening stable door manufactured from European engineered redwood with a hardwood threshold. The door was finished in a single‑colour brush‑painted Farrow & Ball French Grey No. 18.

The new stable door included a 24mm toughened double‑glazed Low‑E unit with argon gas, a raised and fielded 46mm pine panel, and a full suite of premium hardware including polished chrome double cylinder, black adjustable hinges, cottage slimline lever espagnolette lock set, suited cylinder, and matt black escutcheon. Installation included full making‑good internally and disposal of the old door.

Mark is delighted with his new stable door, and particularly impressed by the craftsmanship, quality and professionalism shown in our products and services.

“We had a draughty stable door with hardly any security so decided to contact Woodcraft Windows to get a new one; their Sales Design guy Philip came to see us to go through how the doors are made and go through all the designs and colours etc we could have our new stable door, we could tell the doors were quality from just the sample he showed us but to say they are magnificent doors when they are fitted is an understatement the quality is second to none. From start to finish Woodcraft Windows were so professional, friendly and couldn’t do enough to make you feel special. Highly recommended.”
