Wooden Front Door, Timber Windows and Aluminium Sliding Doors, Cambridge

Jemima lives in an extended Victorian house in Cambridge. Like many of these older homes, there was a mixture of old sash and casement windows, wooden French doors, and a pair of aluminium sliding doors to the rear of the house.

All had seen better days, so she got in touch with us to see if we could undertake the the large job of replacing them all in one go. The house is fairly old and the original windows and doors were no longer fit for purpose, letting in drafts and raising concerns about energy usage and security.

Once we’d agreed the full design specification and provided Jemima with a detailed quote, we got to work building all of the doors, windows and frames in our workshop, and scheduled the installation.

Fortunately, the installation was to take place during the Spring, so concerns around keeping the house warm during the week-long installation were minimal. Even so, we planned the work carefully to ensure that disruption was kept to a minimum and that Jemima was able to use each room in the evenings.

The work included the replacement of the bay windows, a new front door, french doors and replacement of two sliding doors at the rear of the house, as well as a number of casement and sash windows around the home.
