Replacement Timber Windows and Doors Wantage

When you first see the cottage sitting high on the edge of the village, commanding a view over the Oxfordshire countryside. The existing windows had seen better days and the building itself had a few interesting elements to the structure to overcome such as a tower along one elevation which housed a curved staircase with new wooden windows to be installed to light up the stairway. A lack of lintels above window openings which necessitated carefully carrying out the work to minimise any damage and keeping the integrity of the building making for a challenging installation.

Careful consideration and time had to be taken around the wisteria which was growing on the rear of the cottage and especially around the dormer windows that looked out over the garden and to not damage the plant as it was in full bloom.

A new cat flap was installed in the new stable door and the cat had no problem in utilizing this as his quick escape route whilst the work was taking place.

A few difficulties arose during the installation of wooden windows and doors which is not uncommon in older homes. With a lack of supporting structures above windows we took our time, and our team of installers kept the homeowners informed and with our managers and surveyor calling on site to make sure the new windows will keep the home more comfortable to live in for many years to come.
