New Wooden Casement Windows, Combe, Oxfordshire
Shirley called us in to replace the old wooden casement windows in her beautiful Cotswold stone cottage in Combe, Oxfordshire.
The original windows had been patched, filled and repainted over the years, but they had gone past the point of repair, so the time had come to replace them entirely.
We carefully measured up to make certain we had everything we needed, then set to work in our workshop to create exact replicas of the old casement window units in engineered pine.
They are identical in almost every way. The big difference is that – although the look the same – the replacement windows feature modern double glazing and security locks, which means that Shirley’s home is warmer and safer than it was when it was first built.

The old pale green windows had faded badly, and Shirley asked us to match the paint to a particular blue that was used when the house was originally built.
Shirley was under time pressure, so we had to work fast to complete this stage of the installation. This project is still ongoing and Shirley is planning a second stage soon, when we will replace the rest of the windows and doors.
She is delighted with the results so far, and we are looking forward to coming back to complete the second stage soon.
“I’m very happy with the new windows – they’ve done a lovely job.”
