Timber Sash Windows and Doors, Newbottle, Brackley

Alice bought in this impressive three-storey stone farmhouse on Forceleap Farm, which has been part of the Newbottle Estate near Brackley since the 1960s.

We were asked to replace the eight tired-looking timber sash windows at the front of the building, as well as the old panelled double front doors and the doors at the front and back of the kitchen, which is to the side of the main farmhouse.

We began by taking detailed photos and careful measurements to ensure that we accurately matched the shape and style of the originals – especially since many of the sash window frames feature curved openings. Then we began production of the frames, windows and doors in our workshop.

The new double glazed timber sash windows feature modern cords and weights, and offer much-improved security and energy efficiency.

We replaced the old double front doors with a new, part-glazed single timber front door which allows easier access and more light into the vestibule.

The front kitchen door was built to match the main front door, and for added security, we installed a solid panelled timber back kitchen door. All of the doors feature four heavy-duty hinges and multi-point locking – a massive upgrade in security all around.

The windows were finished in white and the doors were painted in the estate’s distinctive green colour.

Time was of the essence, as the project needed to be completed before Alice returned to England to move into the farmhouse, but we managed it with time to spare.
